PLC's are extensively used in Textile, Industrial and Automation solutions. They are extremely robust and can operate effectively in harsh industrial environments. PLC's offer cheap solutions to existing problems in Industry.
But their main drawback is that they are slow in their response time. This serious limitation lends PLC's unusable in real time and critical systems posing challenges to system expansion.
